Tourism in Liguria is growing, in spite of alarms about the reduced spending capacity of Italians. In the month of June 2025, the final data, supplied by the Liguria Region, confirm a growth in tourist presences, up 6.3% compared to the same month in 2024. The balance was positive for both Italian tourists (+1.6%) and foreigners (+12.19%).
Also positive is the figure for arrivals, which, according to the Region, "rose from 624,483 in one month to 659,881, an increase of more than 35,000 units, or +5.67%, compared to June 2024. Also on this front, arrivals from the national territory (+2.56%) and from abroad (+9.06%) increased'.
At the level of individual provinces, 'Imperia's sees a growth in admissions of +4.47%, Savona's +8.72%, Genoa's +6.79%, and La Spezia's +3.28%, again comparing June 2024 with the same month in 2025'.
Regional councillor Lombardi: 'Positive trend'
The consolidated figures for June, commented the regional councillor for tourism, Luca Lombardi, 'confirm an extremely positive trend for Ligurian tourism, and belie any narrative of a crisis: the presences of Italians have grown compared to 2024, and those of foreigners have recorded an even more marked increase. The numbers show how our region continues to be more and more attractive, capable of welcoming and satisfying the needs of ever larger segments of visitors, thanks to its variety. Precisely for this reason, we are determined to continue investing in a strategic promotion that is yielding great results; continuing, for example, with the valorisation of the villages and the hinterland, which are becoming a distinctive and recognised element of our offer".
A full house also for the August bank holiday, with an average of 97% room occupancy throughout the territory. Currently, says the Region (thanks to data collected on Saturday 9 August), the trend of bookings in the main municipalities of Liguria is between 96 and 98, in percentage points. Tourist surveys cover the days from 14 to 17 August and see the province of Imperia at 97.2% occupancy, Savona at 98.3%, 96.4% for the province of Genoa and La Spezia with 95.7% of rooms occupied.
