Thousands of people poured onto the streets of London to take part in the march organised by Tommy Robinson, pseudonym of Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, a prominent figure on the British right. The demonstration started from Stamford Street, near Waterloo Bridge, and proceeded to Whitehall in the centre of the British capital, guarded by more than 1,600 police officers. Some participants, interviewed by the tabloid The Sun, explained that they are marching to protest against the government of Keir Stermer.
Steve Bannon's speech
At the end of the parade, speeches by international figures, including the former strategist of US President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, are also scheduled. A counter-demonstration, 'Stand Up To Racism UK', led by MPs Diane Abbott and Zarah Sultana, is taking place at the same time.
The controversial Robinson
.The organiser Tommy Robinson is a controversial figure: in the past he has been jailed for assault, mortgage fraud, contempt of court and in 2009 he founded the nationalist group English Defence League, which disappeared from the scene around 2013. Despite this, the 42-year-old has remained one of the most influential right-wing figures in the UK and manages to attract large crowds of middle- and working-class people.
Musk on video: 'Need Gb government change'
Elon Musk also appeared on video link-up with the stage, saying that a 'dissolution of Parliament' and a 'change of government' were needed in the UK.
'You can't: we don't have another four years, or when there will be the next election, it's too long. Something has to be done,' said the tycoon referring to Keir Starmer's Labour executive with whom he has entered into controversy several times in the past. He then declared that 'the left is the party of violence and murder', referring to the murder of Charlie Kirk in the US.
