As part of an enquiry into Lucanian healthcare, the gup of Potenza Francesco Valente has remanded for trial the president of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi (Forza Italia) on charges of conspiracy to induce others to give or promise benefits. On 7 October 2022, the investigation led to two arrests: in prison ended Fi's group leader in the regional council, Francesco Piro, under house arrest the former mayor of Lagonegro, Maria Di Lascio. First elected in 2019, Bardi was reconfirmed governor last April.

Senator Gianni Rosa also remanded for trial

Senator Gianni Rosa (FdI) has also been remanded for trial as part of the 2022 investigation into Lucanian healthcare. At the time of the disputed facts, Rosa, who was elected to Parliament in September 2022, was councillor for the environment in the centre-right government, led by Bardi, who is also on trial since 20 January 2025. Two other councillors of that executive have also been indicted: Francesco Cupparo (FI), current regional councillor for Production Activities, and Francesco Fanelli (Lega), currently a regional councillor.
