The composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi returns as he does every December with a string of concerts at Milan's Teatro dal Verme. This time, moreover, the theatre spaces will be pervaded by an installation curated by the musician himself. There is a change of atmosphere in Rome, where from now until the holidays 'Aggiungi un posto a tavola', with Lorella Cuccarini, is on stage. Different music again, in Naples, where one of the greatest sopranos, Asmik Grigorian, introduces us to the beautiful romances of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, infrequently performed in our theatres.

Milano

From 28 November to 18 December the composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi at the Teatro Dal Verme. The seventeen concerts follow the previews in Turin and Florence and open the new 2025 world tour. An important year, which kicks off with the release of the new album 'Summer Portraits', out on 31 January. The theatre will host an installation curated by the musician, entitled "To the Lighthouse", inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel of the same name: a space in which the public will be able to immerse themselves in the intimate and evocative dimension of his music. On stage Einaudi will be accompanied by Federico Mecozzi on violin, Redi Hasa on cello, Francesco Arcuri on percussion, Alberto Fabris on bass, Gianluca Mancini on keyboards, Rocco Nigro on accordion and the Rimini Classica String Ensemble.

Roma

From 29 November to 12 January at the Brancaccio Theatre "Aggiungi un posto a tavola" one of our most beautiful musical comedies. By Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini, written with Jaja Fiastri, music by Armando Trovajoli. With Giovanni Scifoni as Don Silvestro; Lorella Cuccarini as Consolazione; "La Voce di Lassù" is by Enzo Garinei; Marco Simeoli as Mayor Crispino, Sofia Panizzi is Clementina, Francesco Zaccaro is Toto, Francesca Nunzi is Ortensia/Consolazione. The direction is the original by Garinei and Giovannini, revived by Marco Simeoli; ditto the sets and costumes, by Giulio Coltellacci, as well as the choreography is the original by Gino Landi, revived by Cristina Arrò.

We thus participate in the story of Don Silvestro, parish priest of a small mountain village, who receives an unexpected phone call one day: God himself instructs him to build a new ark to save himself and his entire country from the imminent, second, universal flood.

On the 1st at the Teatro S. Carlo there was a good opportunity to hear soprano Asmik Grigorian; together with pianist Lukas Geniusas, she presented a well-paced and infrequent programme between Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. They are intimate and very emotional romances; most of Rachmaninov's truly require an operatic afflatus. One could see them as mini-operas, lasting only a few minutes.
