Luigi Cavallari: who is the engineer from Abruzzo who has been married to the minister for 50 years?

Luigi Cavallari, an engineer and academic from Abruzzo who is well known in Pescara, taught Technology for many years at the Faculty of Architecture at the Gabriele d’Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, where he headed the Department of Built Environment Technologies (2002–2008) and chaired the degree programme in Construction Engineering (2005–2012).
Last March, he, aged 84, and his wife Eugenia Roccella, aged 72, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. “I met him when I was 18 and from that moment on,” the minister herself said, “we’ve never been apart.”
The couple have two children. Cavallari does not have any social media accounts and has always kept her private life completely private.
This afternoon, he went missing in the waters of Lake Vico, in the Viterbo area, where he had been out on a boat with his wife.
According to initial reports, he is believed to have dived into the lake and not resurfaced. Fire brigade divers and officers from the Ronciglione Carabinieri unit are on the scene, conducting searches and investigations to establish what happened.
