Luiss ranks among the top institutions in national research in economics and business
The University is climbing the rankings for knowledge and research dissemination. A project on disinformation has been rated “Exceptional”
Luiss Guido Carli has once again been recognised as a centre of excellence in the field of Italian scientific research. This is evident from the results of the periodic evaluation carried out by ANVUR, which examined the scientific output of professors and researchers at 100 Italian universities (62 state-funded, 20 non-state-funded, 7 special-status institutions and 11 online universities) and 13 research bodies overseen by the Ministry of University and Research, broken down by their respective disciplinary areas.
The latest figures show significant growth and consolidation for Luiss compared with the last round of national assessments, placing the University at the forefront of fields related to economics, management and social impact.
In the fields of Economics and Business Studies and Statistics, Luiss achieved outstanding results in the overall rankings, which include both state and private universities.
Business and Management Sciences: first place overall in Italia, consolidating its national leadership in education and research related to management and business administration.
Economics and Statistics: second place nationally and first overall in the medium-to-large university group.
Social impact
There has also been a significant leap forward in terms of social impact, the so-called ‘Third Mission’. The most significant and evident progress compared to the previous round of national evaluation has been made in the area of knowledge transfer and the social impact of research on the community. Whilst in the previous assessment the Guido Carli University ranked 15th in Italia, in the new rankings Luiss has made a real leap forward, securing second place overall at national level – and first place in the small-to-medium-sized universities category.
The case study
This significant achievement was driven by the case study: “Rebuilding trust by improving the quality of information and combating disinformation through research, communication and digital literacy”. The project, which received the highest rating of “Exceptional”, demonstrates the University’s concrete commitment to translating scientific research into real-world solutions to combat fake news and promote a digitally literate society.
