Luxury: Zordan expands its product range and acquires Vicentina Marmi
The Valdagno-based company is acquiring a 20 per cent stake in the Chiampo-based firm to strengthen its offering to customers in the luxury retail sector. Plans for a foray into the hospitality sector are currently under consideration.
The organisational chart appears upside down: at the top is the team’s name, below that are the names of the team members, and further down still are the members of the boards of directors of the group’s two Italian companies. This is not a mistake, but a deliberate choice made by the senior management of Zordan itself, a Vicenza-based company specialising in the production of fittings for the flagship stores of leading international luxury brands. Specifically, it was a decision by its chief executive, Maurizio Zordan, who, together with his siblings Marta and Alfredo, co-owns the Valdagno-based group founded by their father Attilio in 1965 and, since 2016, one of the first B Corp companies in Italia.
Maurizio Zordan describes himself (and signs his name on documents) as a ‘temporary owner’. “That’s what I am, in fact,” he explains, outlining his vision of a company built on people, their involvement and their empowerment, but also one that is deeply rooted in its local area, as demonstrated by the fact that the entrepreneur has also been mayor of Valdagno since 2024.
The focus is on people and clearly defined development strategies, as demonstrated by the recent acquisition of Vicentina Marmi, a long-established company based in Chiampo – a town renowned for its red marble – with the aim not only of expanding its offering to customers, but also of tapping into potential new markets. Zordan has acquired a 20 per cent stake, with the aim of increasing this to 100 per cent by 2028 and, in the meantime, supporting Vicentina Marmi’s organisational and technological development, as well as the transfer of highly technical and specialised expertise between the companies. The transaction was supported by Inside Partners acting as financial adviser, the law firm Casa & Associati with a team comprising partner Silvia Rosina and solicitors Federica Fratello and Paolo Capraro, Enrico Formentini, and Directa Impresa Srl for the due diligence work.
“Our strategic plan aims to round out the range of services we offer our customers, particularly with regard to materials and processes typically carried out in Italia,” explains the managing director. “We already carry out woodworking, metalwork, upholstery and painting in-house. We have decided to add services to provide our customers with a more integrated and value-for-money offering, but also to enable us to increase the volume of goods supplied from a single point of sale.” It is, therefore, a strategy focused on growth and efficiency.
Although small in size (with a turnover of around 40 million euros in 2024 and 120 employees), Zordan is highly advanced in terms of its organisational structure and governance mechanisms, as well as being dynamic in the markets; it is no stranger to this sort of transaction: a few years ago, it acquired Delta Arredamenti (also based in the Vicenza area), which specialises in furniture for public establishments, and an American company that now serves as its production base for the United States.
