Agriculture, Maschio Gaspardo grows and strengthens in India and the USA
A year with revenues up 12% for the Veneto-based company - President Maschio: 'In September the first machine designed and manufactured in the USA
Turnover up 12%, to 390 million, in the black two-year period for agriculture globally. And a strategy aimed at growing, both in the market and in the industrial footprint, in India and North America. The Veneto-based Maschio Gaspardo, an Italia group specialising in the production of equipment for agricultural machinery, files a year "against the tide" compared to the main companies in the sector. While feeling the blow of geopolitical variables heavy on logistics and markets.
"The crisis in the agricultural sector stems from the significant increase in the cost of agricultural machinery, driven by the general increase in production costs and the problems with agricultural commodities, with falling prices. A mix that has generated a crisis for operators. We were able to extricate ourselves from this situation thanks to a strategy of geographic and product diversification,' emphasises CEO Luigi De Puppi.
Today the European market for Maschio Gaspardo weighs 60% of its turnover, and India promises to grow its weight in the coming years. The Group has been producing in India since 2011 and has a project underway to double its production capacity, which is worth a 30 million investment. "In May work will begin on the new factory," explains cfo Davide Frizzarin, "which will be operational in 2028. Today we produce 50 thousand machines a year, sold mainly on the Indian market, which is growing in terms of mechanisation thanks to the support of the state, which is interested in reducing the environmental impact of agricultural activities. Our goal is to produce the machines for the local market in India, starting with round balers.
The
2025 has recorded two important operations, on the one hand the industrial partnership with the American Lynx AG LLC, specialised in the production of strip-till technology on large dimensions - for working on strips of land -, of which Maschio Gaspardo has acquired a share. On the other, the acquisition by Maschio Gaspardo China and Maschio Gaspardo Canada of the business branches of manufacturer Grégoire Besson in their respective countries. "The collaboration with the American Lynx led us to create a joint venture and to design and start testing our first agricultural machine for the American market in May. It is a large seeding machine, which we will present at the Farm Progress Show in Iowa next September," explains president Mirco Maschio. "We believe it is strategic to support projects capable of rooting production in the territories where we are present, given the heavy uncertainties on logistics and transport costs. The choice made in India is strategic because it allows us to serve a fast-growing market, which has gone from 500 thousand to one million tractors in ten years," adds the president. The Group has six plants in Italia and others in India, China, Romania and the United States.
