Mango, twist in investigation into death of founder Isak Andic: son Jonathan under investigation

From accident to possible murder: there is a suspect in the investigation into the death of Isak Andic, founder of Mango, a Spanish fashion brand, on 14 December last. He is the son of the entrepreneur, Jonathan, aged 44, who is being investigated for murder. He was the only one present when his 71-year-old father lost his life while hiking on Montserrat near Barcelona, falling more than 100 metres.

The Mossos d'Esquadra, the Catalan police, had interrogated him twice between December and January 2025 and the case was provisionally closed due to lack of evidence.

But two elements, as reported by the Spanish newspapers El Pais and La Vanguardia, led to the breakthrough in the investigation. The court in Martorell considered Jonathan Andic's interrogations to be inconsistent. Contradictory details emerged, such as the wrong place where the car had been parked or the fact that photographs had not been taken, when in fact they had been taken. Furthermore, the testimony of Estefania Knuth, the Mango founder's partner, revealed a strained relationship between the two family members.

Now, investigations can be carried out on the only person on the register of suspects. The investigators started from his mobile phone, also to reconstruct the route taken.

In the only comment issued, the family of Jonathan Andic emphasised that they 'wish to show respect for the proceedings that have been conducted and will continue to cooperate with the competent authorities as they have done so far. They are also confident,' they concluded, 'that this trial will be concluded as soon as possible and that Jonathan's innocence will be proven.
