Key points
From reading education projects to paediatric mobility. From mountain rescue to the care of animals used in fights. From projects against the risk of pollution to the organisation of events. From obesity prevention to targeted interventions for Italians abroad. While the spotlights are focused on the corrective measures to the double squeeze on pensions, the first block of amendments to the manoeuvre that will flesh out the new 'tipping law' has landed in the Senate Budget Committee. There are 12 amendments that will be put to the vote in the next few hours, all aimed at micro-interventions, also with social relevance.
Reading Education
Opening the package are the 100,000 euro for each of the years 2026-2027 earmarked for the implementation of reading education projects in both educational and non-educational settings. To be implemented mainly in the most disadvantaged territorial areas and social contexts. The beneficiary of the aid is the Association of Independent Publishers (Adei).
Adolescent obesity prevention
In order to promote the prevention and early diagnosis of obesity in adolescents and the care of patients suffering from this pathology, a Fund is established in the budget of the Ministry of Health for the implementation of a national screening programme for the prevention and management of obesity in the population aged between thirteen and seventeen. The endowment of the Fund is equal to EUR 2 million annually for each of the years 2026 and 2027.
Pediatric Mobility
Also at the Ministry of Health is the paediatric mobility support fund with an endowment of 0.5 million for each of the years 2026 and 2027. The fund's resources are intended to financially support parents for travel and other expenses incurred during the period of hospitalisation and treatment of their children under the age of 21 in a hospital centre outside their province of residence.
Euro 300,000 to combat anti-Semitism
300 thousand euro are coming in 2026 for municipalities with over 80,000 inhabitants for the organisation of 'commemorative events against anti-Semitism' and the remembrance of the victims of the racial laws. Compared to the first text proposed by Italia Viva, however, the government's reformulation reduces the resources earmarked for municipalities from 500 thousand euros per year (requested by Iv) to 300 thousand euros only for 2026.
