Mantovano: "Crosetto in Dubai? Intelligence does not monitor ministers'
Defence Minister Guido Crosetto was at the Quirinale for talks with the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to take stock of the current international crisis. This was learnt at the Quirinale.
Mantovano: intelligence agencies do not monitor ministers' private trips
"Minister Crosetto said two days ago in a parliamentary chamber that he needed to take a few days off with his family; that is why he used a commercial flight to go to Dubai. Intelligence agencies do not monitor the private travel of ministers, Law 124 prohibits the monitoring of a number of people including politicians. What is important is that the minister's operations have never failed'. Thus Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano, Delegated Authority for the Security of the Republic, at the presentation of the annual intelligence report.
The Services Act prohibits the monitoring of political figures
"It seems superfluous to remind you that Law 124 (the Services Act of 2007, ed.) prohibits control activities for a number of people including politicians. What really matters is the operativeness of the Minister of Defence, which, as President Meloni has already attested, has never failed, even though he was out of the country'. These are the words of the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano, replying to a question from reporters on the presence in Dubai of the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, on the day the conflict in the Middle East broke out.

'Crosetto,' Mantovano emphasised, 'said two days ago, not just anywhere, but in a parliamentary hall, therefore in a civilly sacred place, that he needed to take a few days off with his family. That is why he used a commercial flight to go there and would have used a commercial flight to return had the conflict not broken out'.
