'In the referendum on 22-23 March I will vote Yes. And not because of my surname, nor out of partisan spirit, but because it is the right thing to do'. So says Marina Berlusconi, Silvio Berlusconi's eldest daughter and chairman of Fininvest and Mondadori, in an interview with Corriere della Sera. 'This is what referendums should be for,' she added, 'to vote on content, not on affiliations. It is not a political showdown, nor a vote for or against the government. Justice is conditioned by a shameful market of appointments. Every magistrate is free to have his or her own ideas, of course, but under no circumstances should he or she make a career out of politics, nor should he or she make politics out of judicial activity'.
