Energy: Mase is considering extending the protected market until the end of 2027
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - "In light of the current international situation, characterised by persistent volatility in energy prices, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security is considering the introduction of measures aimed at extending, until 31 December 2027, the conditions currently provided for under the Gradual Protection Scheme – which is due to expire on 31 March 2027 – for the benefit of micro-enterprises, SMEs and domestic customers”. This was announced by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security in a statement.
"Among the options under consideration," explains Mase, "is the possibility that, from 1 April to 31 December 2027, if no offer is selected on the open market, the provider of the Gradual Protection Scheme will continue to apply the current commercial supply terms to non-vulnerable domestic customers or, where more advantageous, the terms of the best offer made by the same provider to those customers.”
"The aim is to give non-vulnerable domestic customers more time to assess the offers available on the open market and make an informed choice of supplier, whilst encouraging greater consumer awareness and more active participation in the energy market."
