Maserati Grecale: what’s new and what it’s like to drive the Trident’s SUV
A revamped design, updated technology and a range stretching from the mild hybrid to the V6 Nettuno and the all-electric Folgore. We test-drove the new Maserati Grecale on the roads of Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Maserati is continuing to refresh its range with an update to the Grecale, the D-SUV that is one of the Modena-based manufacturer’s key models. The project evolves without compromising the Trident’s identity, refining design, technology and build quality, with a wide range of engines and a price list starting at nearly 80,000 for the 250 CV MHEV version and reaching around 128,000 for the 530 CV Trofeo.
Size and style
Measuring 4,873 mm in length, 2,163 mm in width, 1,663 mm in height and with a wheelbase of 2,901 mm, the Grecale offers a balanced blend of sportiness and spaciousness. The generous wheelbase ensures plenty of space for rear passengers too, whilst the boot meets the demands of everyday use with a capacity of 570 litres.
The stylistic evolution is most evident at the front, where a new interpretation of the ‘shark nose’ makes its debut, a clear nod to Maserati’s sports cars of the past. The redesigned grille, new bumpers and aerodynamic enhancements – including the integrated air curtain – improve the car’s road presence, efficiency and stability.
The side view strikes a successful balance between elegance and dynamism, with clean lines and sporty proportions. The choice of wheels up to 21 inches, numerous finishes and specific details allows the car to be customised for either a more elegant or a sportier look, whilst the Folgore stands out for its aerodynamic features.
