Maserati is coming home. Stellantis officially confirms the shift of production of the two models in the range, Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio, from Mirafiori to Modena, while the Turin hub will also produce the hybrid model alongside the electric Fiat 500. The decision was in the air given that Maserati's volumes at Mirafiori were drastically reduced after the stop of the Levante.
Maserati has returned to niche numbers, with 70 units produced from January to March in the Turin hub. A slump, says the Fim in its quarterly report, "brought about by the 2024 halt in production of the Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante, while production of the Maserati GT and GC, including the full-electric Folgore versions, did not meet expectations". Mirafiori will, however, maintain a strong link, the company assures us, with the Trident marque as the GranTurismo and Gran Cabrio sheet-metal and paint shop activities will continue to be carried out at the Mirafiori complex.
Stellanti produces Maserati Grecale at the Cassino site, where production in the first quarter of the year was 4,655 units, 45.5% less than in 2024. Alongside the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, the Grecale accounts for 20% of production at the Group's Lazio hub.
The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio will therefore be produced by the end of 2025 at the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant in the heart of Motor Valley. The start-up of the production line for the 500 hybrid model "will ensure operational continuity for the Mirafiori coachworks and its people," writes the Group in a note.
