Mattarella: the law of the strongest opens the door to barbarism in international life. New Solovyov attack
The Head of State: in the memory of the Resistance, Italia reaffirms its commitment to peace
"In remembering the sacrifice of those who fought to give us back our freedom, we reaffirm the commitment of the Italian Republic to peace, respect for human rights and the construction of more just and united national and international societies". These were the words of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during his meeting at the Quirinale with representatives of the Combatant and Armed Forces Associations on the occasion of the 81st Anniversary of the Liberation.
'The Liberation Struggle,' he said, 'is one of the founding pages of republican history. It marks the moral and civil redemption of a people that, in the Resistance, expressed the strength and ability to affirm the values of freedom, justice, peace and democracy. Those values, carved into our Constitution, are not only the fruit of a historical period: they are the foundation of our civil coexistence and of Italia's presence in the international context'.
The Head of State went on to note that 'in the current international context, marked by conflicts, tensions and profound instability, this call takes on an even more intense meaning', emphasising that 'freedom and peace, in fact, are not a given once and for all. They are goods that have been made fragile by dissension and that require awareness, commitment. It is a heritage that must be preserved, brought to life and passed on to the younger generations. The prevalence of the law imposed by those who consider themselves temporarily stronger is in fact destined to sow mourning and destruction, opening the way to a condition of permanent conflict, of barbarism in international life'.
Solovyov returns to Italia and attacks Mattarella
The pro-Putin TV presenterVladimir Solovyov in his programme returns to the attack on Italia: "Remember the statements of your politicians in office: when one of your politicians, such as a minister, says of the supreme commander that "he is worse than an animal", when your president compares our country to the Third Reich you do not understand what you are talking about," he said in reference to President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and former Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio. "You, Italians, may not know this, but I want you to know about the shame of your grandfathers and great-grandfathers who came to this land to kill Soviet citizens. In Donbass, you imposed the rule that for one Italian killed, you eliminated 80,' Solovyov added.
