Mattarella: Loyalty to the Constitution is the cornerstone of the Air Force, which is committed to stability

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The celebration of the 22nd National Gathering of the Air Force Association in Salerno, “a city that was the seat of the National Liberation Committee and the provisional capital at a crucial moment in our recent history”, on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Republic “gives the event a special significance”.

"It was this very community that witnessed the first steps of the democratic revival which would lead the country out of the tragedy of the World War, culminating in the referendum in favour of the Republic on 2 June 1946.

"It was in that same spirit of freedom and independence that the foundations of the Arma Azzurra were renewed, in accordance with the principles of the Constitution." So said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the President of the ‘Aviatori d’Italia’ Air Force Association, Air Chief Marshal Giulio Manini.

"In expressing our sincere appreciation for the commendable work carried out by the Air Force Association in faithfully preserving the memory of those who served their country in the skies and in passing on their values to the young people who today, with undiminished enthusiasm and professionalism, safeguard the security of our airspace and that of our Allied nations, and who, through international missions, strive to restore balance and stability to a world shaken on multiple fronts by crises and conflicts – continued the President of the Republic – ‘May my most heartfelt wishes for the complete success of this event go out to all the members gathered here, to the association’s leaders and to the authorities present.’
