It is an ancient history, that of the Mattioli jewellery brand. It began in Turin at the dawn of industrialisation, in the last years of the 19th century, when the Antica Ditta Marchisio obtained the legendary '1TO' (1 Torino) hallmark, which would soon become established throughout the peninsula in the creation of chains and precious necklaces, characterised by exquisite inlays made by craftsmen who knew how to give the tu to gold, working it in all its phases, from the melting of the ingot to the finished model. The Mattioli family, in the person of Luciano, who until 1995 held senior management positions at Pirelli, decided to acquire this brand, to which they gave their own name a lustre later. Since then, the rise in the jewellery scene has been continuous and unstoppable, thanks also to the wealth of knowledge, manual dexterity and technology of which the Mattioli family have become the prosecutors. In particular, it is the enthusiastic and knowledgeable Licia Mattioli who has brought about a change of pace that has enabled the brand to be appreciated in more than thirty countries in a short time. Only such an enthusiastic and stubborn woman, after all, could and would have been able to interpret so well the desires, expectations and habits of women wishing to wear a Mattioli jewel. The entrepreneur thinks of collections that satisfy them and make them feel elegant and dynamic at the same time: this is how the jewellery should be, possibly the result of creations that are colourful, the emblem of varied and luminous personalities, the interpreters of concrete feminine dreams, able to cash in on that inner positivity and radiance that one might take home from a trip, from a visit to a museum or art gallery. It is no coincidence that the words chosen to describe the Mattioli collections are "joy, colour and interchangeability", which "thanks to an ongoing dialogue support our goal of achieving extraordinary success as a symbol of elegance and Italian excellence". The identikit of the Mattioli customer corresponds to that of an independent woman, aged between 30 and 50, educated and determined, sensitive, and above all aware of her own taste.

In order to intercept it, the Piedmontese brand follows very strict criteria: each Mattioli jewel is 100% handmade and necessarily made in Italy, in the sign of the most ancient traditions of goldsmith's craftsmanship, combined with the latest technologies. Therefore, rapid prototyping and numerical control machines are used, as well as laser and optical engraving tools for embedding entrusted to more than six hundred employees in the Turin headquarters and in those scattered throughout the goldsmith district of Valenza, as well as in Marcianise, in the province of Caserta. It is in these ancient forges with a contemporary mood that models that have already become iconic, interchangeable and colourful take shape, from gold chains to diamond-paved jewellery, always playful.

The highlights of the Mattioli collection are also the Limited Edition models, which can be likened to works of art, forms of the highest craftsmanship. An example of a great success in this sense is the Puzzle collection, which since 2000 has never ceased to radiate its appeal, which is also the result of its versatility, consisting of a multitude of customisable options. It was also in 2000 that the flagship store was inaugurated at 105 Via del Babuino in Rome, where one can buy and also admire all the creations in 18k gold.

Inspiration often comes from art, and the Puzzle Diamonds collection in particular has deliberately taken shape, at least on an ideal level and then later in its decomposed forms, from the kinetic works of Alexander Calder. Thus the jewellery, light and ethereal, presents a playful design: each earring with its rounded corners and imperfect geometries finds an unexpected harmony on contact with the diamond, its central stone capable of attracting light and feminine desire. Guaranteed by its adherence to the Kimberley Process traceability protocol, the diamonds used by Mattioli come from countries that do not finance any war conflicts. Confirmation that a responsible business model is being followed is also evidenced by Mattioli's being a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council and by its possession of Chain of Custody (CoC) certification for the entire gold supply chain, obtained in 2017 and renewed in the following years precisely to reaffirm its adoption of responsible extraction and processing procedures and its commitment to guaranteeing the traceability of gold. Without sustainability, after all, there would be no beauty today.
