Tourism: Mazzi says Italia will overtake Spain in terms of overnight stays by 2025, ranking first in Europe

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - “In 2025, preliminary figures suggest that Italia has reached a record total of 535.5 million overnight stays, a result that allows us to overtake Spain and take the top spot in Europe.” This was stated by the Minister for Tourism, Gianmarco Mazzi, on World Tourism Day, describing the results achieved in this sector as “extraordinary”.

"Today we are marking World Tourism Day, established by the UN in 1979. We had planned a whole series of events at the Colosseum, which we have suspended as a mark of respect and to join in the mourning following the tragic death of Andrea Moretti. We have postponed all celebrations until Saturday 17 October,” said the minister, paying tribute to the 22-year-old rock-cutting worker who died whilst carrying out work at the Colosseum.
