Idf: 'Ground offensive in Gaza expanded'

The Israeli army (IDF) announced that it has expanded its ground offensive in the Gaza Strip over the past day. The announcement - the Times of Israel points out - comes after the IDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, yesterday ordered the army to operate in new areas of Gaza.

"Over the past day, troops have extended ground manoeuvres, eliminated terrorists and destroyed numerous weapons depots and terrorist infrastructure, both above and below ground," the army reports.

The IDF added that in the last day, the Israeli Air Force hit dozens of targets throughout Gaza, including terrorist cells, buildings used by terrorist groups, tunnels, weapons depots, and other infrastructure.

Palestinian media: Idf advances in Khan Younis

Palestinian media report that IDF ground troops are advancing in the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza. Al Jazeera then reported a series of raids during the night on Gaza city, and so far there are at least five deaths, including a child. The Israeli armed forces have not yet commented, reports Times of Israel.

Gaza, Msf: 'Civilians hit by drones, helicopters and soldiers'

The Médecins Sans Frontières (Msf) teams at the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis yesterday rescued some of the people injured while waiting to receive food at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's distribution centres in Rafah and near the Netzarim corridor. According to the Ministry of Health, dozens of Palestinians were killed and hundreds were injured. Patients told MSF teams that they were hit from multiple fronts: from drones, helicopters, boats, and on the ground by Israeli tanks and soldiers.

Hamas: 31 killed on way to aid. Idf: only shots fired in the air

Health officials and witnesses in Gaza say at least 31 people were killed and more than 170 wounded while on their way to receive food aid. Witnesses say Israeli forces fired into the crowd about a kilometre from an aid site run by an Israeli-backed foundation.

This is the deadliest accident ever in the new aid distribution system. It worked for less than a week.

The Israeli army says its forces did not fire at civilians near or inside the site, but fired warning shots at suspects.

The foundation says it delivered aid to its sites "without incident."
