Two killed in Syria in an ambush by a gunman belonging to the Islamic State. This was announced by the US Central Command (Centcom) in a note. According to the US Army Central Command, the interpreter was a US citizen. Three other US soldiers were injured in the attack, Centcom said, adding that the gunman was killed. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the attacker was killed by allied forces.

Saad headed the Hamas weapons production headquarters and is considered second only to the group's last military leader, Izz al-Din Haddad.
