Medicine, 15% of places reserved for the 2023 'foursomes

Solved at least one of the two unknowns that weighed on the 2024 entrance tests for Medicine. In a decree that has just been published, the Ministry of Universities has defined the reserve quota of the so-called 'quartini' for enrolments for the next academic year 2024/25. Out of the 16,376 availabilities provisionally identified for the Italian-language quizzes in state universities (while including those in English would come to 20,867, ndr), 2,463 are those guaranteed to students who took the 2023 Tolc-Med (which was born as a two-year course and was instead cancelled after just one year) when they were in the upper fourth grade, obtaining a minimum score that would have earned them access to the rankings this year. In practice, the reserve quota amounts to 15.83 per cent. Slightly lower is the one drawn for the Veterinary 'fourth graders' at 12.52 per cent.

As mentioned, the places to be reserved for the 'fourth graders' in the next ranking list for Medicine will be 15.83% of the total. Attached to the decree is also a table that allocates them to the various universities on the basis of the destination preferences they have made in recent months by responding to the Mur's double notice.
Directly interested parties should already be able to know their fate today by accessing the Cineca portal. Each candidate there will find an indication of the score and the university location in which they are "assigned". From 10 September (and by the 13th of the same month) they will have to register, according to the administrative procedures of the individual university.
The final word on the rankings should arrive by 12 noon 17 September 2024 when each university will notify Cineca of the names of the matriculated students.

The same path chosen to heal the vulnus created by the decision to cancel the Tolc-Med run last year by the Cisia consortium and initially conceived as a two-year programme was also taken for the Tolc-Vet in Veterinary Medicine. In this case, the reserve quota was 12.52%, with 143 slots guaranteed to the 'quartini' out of the. 1,222 total (and provisional).

The passage of places from provisional to definitive is the last knot that remains to be unravelled a few days before the second session of quizzes (to be held on Tuesday 30 July for Medicine and Wednesday 31 for Veterinary Medicine). In order to arrive at the total count, the last Anvur deliberations on some sites that have requested accreditation this year are missing and should arrive on the eve of the tests.
