Access to Medicine 2025: how rankings and debt recovery will work

The protests went as far as Atreju, where the Minister of Universities and Research Anna Maria Bernini was protested after the two 'filter semester' appeals for access to medical faculties. "We are in danger of losing a year," said some of those present from the University Union association.

The results of the second test, taken on 10 December, have not yet been announced. Those of the first one, on 20 November, were critical. About 15% of those examined were sufficient in Physics and 22-23% in Biology and Chemistry.

For this reason, and given that the almost 20,000 places made available for state universities (here the situation of private universities), the ministry plans to intervene because, Bernini explained, 'all the places on the medical school ranking list will be filled on the basis of merit evaluations'.

The minister explained, on the sidelines of her speech on stage at Atreju, that more than an amnesty, this is the "natural evolution of a reform that must reach all stages of implementation. When we will have the grades of the students who participated in the first and second roll call, we will make the ranking andon the basis of the ranking we will see who enters immediately, who by 28 February and will serve their exam debts and who will be able to slide on the related subjects that have already been indicated because they have been able to enrol for free already".

It is therefore excluded that there will be a new national test. Those who have passed all three exams will be placed on a first list. If this does not fill the 19,707 places available in the state, a second list will be used, with students who have passed two out of three exams. For them, however, it will be necessary to make up, locally, the debt in that subject. Lastly, those who have passed one exam out of three (thus with two debts to be recovered) would be considered.
