Medicine: over 200,000 visits to the ‘Semestre aperto’ platform

There has been a surge in visits to the free platform designed to help students prepare for the open enrolment period for degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine. In less than 48 hours after its launch, the platform recorded 217,560 visits, 287,760 page views and 3,495 registered users.
Promoted by the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities (CRUI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR), and developed by the CISIA Inter-University Consortium, the platform is completely free of charge and designed to complement university lectures and activities organised by the universities.

The tool supports students in their preparation by providing educational content, self-assessment tools and mock exams. Exercises and tests covering the secondary school syllabuses for chemistry, physics and biology are already available on the website, whilst the corresponding training modules will also be published shortly. With the launch of the Open Semester, exercises based on the syllabuses for biology, physics, chemistry and introductory biochemistry for the 2026/2027 academic year, as well as mock exams, designed with the same types of questions and the same duration as the official exams.

This initiative reaffirms the shared commitment of MUR and CRUI to providing students with practical, free and high-quality resources, which complement those already offered by the MOOD project – which has been running since 2024 and is promoted by the Permanent Conferences of Master’s Degree Programmes in Medicine and Dentistry. The aim is to offer students a range of tools to guide them through a gradual and informed preparation for the university admissions process.
