Medicine, second screening term: here are the 10 dates to mark in red

In theory, lectures and any seminars will continue until the end of November. In practice, individual universities will decide their own timetables. On paper, the period for teaching activities should be longer than last year, when the first exam session was scheduled for 20 November and all universities had already finished their courses by October.

The first sitting is scheduled for 10 December. The exam remains a national one and is divided into three parts: Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Each paper still consists of 31 questions. However, both the time allowed to complete each paper (from 45 to 50 minutes) and the break between papers (30 minutes instead of 15) have been increased. The format has also changed: there will be 10 short-answer questions and 21 multiple-choice questions (instead of the 15 and 16 set for the 2025/26 academic year, respectively).

Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark; an incorrect answer will be worth -0.1 marks; and a blank answer will be worth zero marks. The maximum number of marks that can be obtained is 31, which is equivalent to a ‘30 with distinction’. The pass mark remains at 18/30. The results will be announced on 23 December.

The second round of results will be announced on 11 January, and the results will be published on 20 January.

Two days later, all prospective doctors will find out their position on the ranking list. As was the case last year following the December resits, the list will be divided into three sections: the first will include those who have passed three exams; the second, those with at least two marks of 18/30; and the third, those who have passed just one exam.

Students will be placed in their respective sections according to their scores; the better of the two marks obtained in the same exam will automatically be taken into account.

From 22 January to 28 January 2027, students are required to enrol, or register for the purpose of recovering their credits, failing which they will forfeit their entitlement. As was the case last year, students with only one or two passing grades will be able to obtain the missing credits (each exam is worth 6 credits, editor’s note) at their assigned university before the start of the second semester.

On 1 February, the results of enrolment and registration are published in the restricted section of each candidate’s personal account.

Any transfer to a related course will follow its own timetable. Here, we shall limit ourselves to the initial and final stages. The first is scheduled for 16 February at 5.00 pm, with the publication of the ranking list for related courses.

The entire process will be completed on 12 March, when Cineca will publish, on the Universitaly website in the restricted section of the personal area for students on the bridging semester, the full list of students enrolled on the various related courses; at that point, the second semester will be able to begin for them too.
