Meloni to Landini: 'Me, a courtesan? He's obnubilated by rancour' Reply: 'No insult'
The premier on X attacks the CGIL secretary for his intervention in the last episode of diMartedì on La 7: 'The left to criticise me calls me a prostitute'. Landini's reply: no sexist insult and no rancour
Giorgia Meloni against Maurizio Landini. The premier writes on X: "The general secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, evidently obnubilated by a mounting resentment (which I understand), defines me on television as a 'courtesan'. I think everyone knows the most common meaning attributed to this word, but, for the benefit of those who don't know, I publish the first definition found by doing a quick search on the Internet".
The premier continues: 'And here is another splendid slide of the left: the one that for decades has lectured us about respecting women, but then, in order to criticise a woman, in the absence of arguments, calls her a prostitute'. Meloni also publishes a dictionary definition: 'Woman of easy virtue, heterosexual; euphem. prostitute'.
Meloni's reference is to a passage in the last episode of diMartedì on La7, on which Landini was a guest. The programme, talking about Gaza and the demonstrations, frames the passage in Meloni's speech before the regional elections in Tuscany, on the fact that the general strike, "in Palestine does not change anything and on the other hand in Italy the Italians have a lot of problems and particularly the workers that the union should defend". Landini replies in the transmission that "the workers took to the streets to defend the honour of this country, while Meloni was playing the courtesan of Trump".
This was followed by Landini's reply in a note: "No sexist insult and no rancour. On Tuesday evening, as a guest of Giovanni Floris on 'Di Martedì', in a ten-minute interview, which anyone can easily review, responding to a question on the truce agreement in the Middle East, I immediately clarified, to avoid any misunderstanding or instrumentalisation of the term used, what I meant: that Meloni has been in Trump's wake, she has been in Trump's court, she has been Trump's bagman. I expressed, evidently, a political judgement on the lack of a role for our government and its Prime Minister"
