The Concept AMG GT XX has racked up records in recent days, covering, for example, 40,075 km on the Nardò test track in less than eight days and setting a total of 25 long-distance records. Under extreme test conditions, the Concept showed superior endurance in keeping with other records set by Mercedes AMG. The performance brand pushed the limits to the highest level with two vehicles, lap after lap, breaking record after record, at an average cruising speed of 300 km/h, for a total of 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes and 7 seconds.
A record distance for an electric car
.Among the many records achieved, the most significant is that of the longest distance ever covered by an electric car in 24 hours. In the extreme endurance test, the previous benchmark was not beaten once, but fourteen times: Mercedes-AMG fielded two Concept AMG GT XXs in the challenge on the Nardò circuit. Both surpassed the previous record in every single window of the 24-hour race by a remarkable margin. The ultimate stress test was only possible thanks to the endurance capacity of the revolutionary power unit at these extreme levels.
The Concept based on the AMG.EA architecture
.The Concept AMG GT XX, in particular, is powered by three axial-flow motors and a direct-cooled battery. All these technologies will enter production next year based on the introduction of the new AMG.EA performance car architecture. A number of further production-ready innovations played a key role in the extreme test. These include a new integrated cooling concept, more sophisticated aerodynamics and a fully intelligent operating strategy. More innovations will be unveiled in the coming months.
Innovations in both exteriors and interiors
.The Concept AMG GT XX introduces a series of innovations in both the exterior and interior. Highlights include a racing helmet with augmented reality, ergonomic 3D seat padding and new materials based on biotechnology. The Concept's exterior highlights also include illuminated paint segments along the sides, speakers integrated into the headlights and the Mbux Fluid Light panel at the rear. In short, a package destined to be used on future upcoming models already planned by the high-performance premium brand.
