Met, revenues of 1.4 billion in Italia: wants to double supplies and customers

"For the second year in a row, revenues exceed one billion and the 2025 results represent Met Energia Italia's best performance": CEO Giuseppe Rebuzzini is satisfied with the latest financial statements of the Swiss group's Italian company, which operates in 33 national energy markets. Specifically, Met Energia Italia had a turnover of €1.4 billion in 2025 (they were 1.05 in 2024) with an adjusted Ebitda of €51.4 million, supplying its customers with 960 million cubic metres of gas (10.14 TWh, they were 8.5 in 2024) and 3.442 TWh of electricity (they were 2.2 in 2o24) through more than 100 thousand delivery points. The Met Group recorded EUR 28.5 billion in revenue globally for the year, while the traded volume of natural gas amounted to 242 billion cubic metres, and that of electricity reached 160 TWh.

As far as the outlook is concerned, 'we are working on the development of commercial activities, and we expect 2026 to be presumably better as far as EBITDA is concerned,' explains Rebuzzini. 'The new year will also benefit from the contribution of the Energy Release mechanism, for which we are the aggregator of 600 industrial customers in seven aggregations. We have begun to receive the first tranches of payments from the Gse, which will then be monthly until 2027, after a somewhat critical start due to the certifications related to anti-mafia regulations, which are complicated to manage at the same time for so many operators'.

The Energy Release measure, which provides electricity at a subsidised price to companies against the realisation of new renewable capacity, is also driving the company's activity in this field: 'We have just finished building our first two solar plants, linked precisely to Energy Release, in the provinces of Pavia and Novara, for a total of 20 MW. Within our pipeline of renewable projects with a total of 500 MW, we are now evaluating which ones are most interesting for Energy Release. In any case, we believe we are on track to meet our obligations to the GSE and remain strongly committed to the development of renewables.

The CEO of Met Energia Italia also emphasises plans for further growth in the country: 'Italia remains a key market for the group, first and foremost because of its size and national GDP. We are drawing up a long-term plan to double the quantities of gas and energy supplied to our customers in the coming years, from today's total of 13 TWh. We also want to double our current 100 thousand delivery points, for 65 thousand customers, with the goal of reaching at least 200 thousand in five years' time. Met wants to offer the market financial capacity and operational management flexibility, two characteristics that are difficult to hold together'.

The company also promoted the creation of Make Energy Together, one of the first renewable energy communities (Cer) on a national scale, which now has 8,000 customers, with the support of Met Italia Energy Solutions, its own Esco (energy service society) that deals with energy efficiency and support for companies and, precisely, Cer. "We are very active in this area, but it is a long-term business, which is slow going at the moment: for Cer the bureaucratic and administrative part is considerable, it should perhaps be streamlined so as to make it easier for end customers to benefit from the mechanism," concludes Rebuzzini.
