Negotiations for the renewal of the national collective labour contract for metalworkers have resumed: Fim, Fiom and Uilm received today from Federmeccanica and Assistal a summons for 15 July at 11 a.m. at the Confindustria headquarters in Rome. This was announced by the general secretaries of the three unions, respectively Ferdinando Uliano, Michele De Palma and Rocco Palombella, according to whom "the positive resumption of negotiations is realised thanks to the mobilisation and 40-hour strike of the workers".

"The renewal of the Ccnl," emphasised the secretaries Uliano, De Palma and Palombella in a joint note, "is necessary to give stability to the main industrial sector of our country and answers to the contractual demands put forward in the platform by metalworkers and metalworkers.

Negotiations had been broken off in November 2024, after several months of confrontation, due to the distances found between the parties in particular on the proposals regarding salary increases. The trade unions demanded an average increase for the C3 level (formerly fifth level) of EUR 280 gross over a three-year period, while the employers' associations proposed confirming the increase defined on the basis of inflation (Ipca-Nei), extending to four years the term of the contract, which expired at the end of June 2024 and concerns about 1.5 million workers. In recent days, positive signals had already arrived from Confindustria regarding the resumption of negotiations.
