Key points
For more than one and a half million metalmechanics a new national contract was signed that provides for 205.32 euro in average increases. The agreement was reached after long negotiations by Federmeccanica and Assistal with Fiom CGIL, Fim Cisl and Uilm.
The contract, which expired in June 2024, was renewed after 17 months of difficult negotiations, characterised by repeated 'stop and go', with a breakdown of the table, 40 hours of strikes and demonstrations throughout Italy, and since mid-July a resumption of negotiations.
raises paid in four tranches
The monthly increase, which at the average level (C3 ex 5th level) is EUR 205.32, will lead to an increase of EUR 177 in the minimums for the next three years. The first instalment of EUR 27.70 has already been paid on 1 June 2025, the next instalment of EUR 53.17 will be paid on 1 June 2026, thefurther EUR 59.58 on 1 June 2027, the fourth instalment of EUR 209; 64.87 will be paid on 1 June 2028. The contractual increases of 9.64% are above the expected Ipca inflation rate of 7.20%, but spread over four years instead of three. The fully tax-free Flexible benefits also increase, from the current EUR 200 to EUR 250 to be paid by February 2026, thus reaching the sum of EUR 1,750 net for each employee in the period 2021-2028.
Stabilisation for staff leasing and fixed-term contracts
Important changes also concern the regulatory parts of the Ccnlc, with the extension to 96 hours/year for multi-week working hours to better balance workloads and the simultaneous increase to 128 hours of the ceiling between multi-week and overtime in exempt quotas. It is envisaged that fixed-term contracts can exceed 12 months in duration against specific grounds, but from 2027 the grounds for extending 12-month contracts can only be used if at least 20 per cent of previous fixed-term contracts are stabilised. With regard to Staff-leasing, the right to be stabilised for an indefinite period of time at the company in question was introduced after 48 months. Subjective and objective grounds are contractually defined for fixed-term and temporary contracts. New protections are provided for people with oncological diseases and disabilities, the reduction of working hours by 8 hours for staff involved in the 21 shifts.
News on safety at work
In the area of occupational safety, the training of the RLS is strengthened with an additional 8 hours, and the obligation of accident analysis and near-accident reports as well as risk reports is established. With regard to contracts, an obligation has been introduced for companies with more than 400 employees to provide the unions with an information sheet with information on contracting companies, regulations on contract changes and long-term contracts.
