The dance section of the Ravenna Festival, which will kick off at the Teatro Alighieri on 14 June with a tribute to Micha van Hoecke, develops on the thread of memory. "Ravenna has stolen my soul", the Belgian choreographer, who collaborated with the Festival for almost thirty years, used to repeat, leaving an indelible mark. Four years after his death, his companion in art and life Miki Matsuse is staging the Italian premiere, with the Balletto di Roma, of La dernière danse?, a journey through the labyrinth of memories of the music that marked Micha's youth - from the Platters to Léo Ferré - but also that of an entire generation that still believed in dreams. The tribute also includes a photo exhibition on the artist's work.
The Wall by Pink Floyd, the pop opera that still today, almost fifty years after its publication, is the hymn of revolt of young people against injustice and conformism, will be staged at Palazzo Mauro De André on 15 June with the MM Dance Company, directed by Manuel Renga and choreographed by Michele Merola. The Città di Ferrara orchestra, the Vittore Veneziani Choral Academy, and the Pink Sonic band will perform Pink Floyd's legendary music live, recreating the psychedelic and visionary atmosphere of the original work.
On 19 June at Palazzo De André it will be the turn of the Fondazione Aterballetto, which with Notte Morricone by Marcos Morau will shift the focus of memory to the cinematographic and pop imaginary, while the following day with the MicroDanze, conceived by Gigi Cristoforetti and signed by Philippe Kratz, Francesca Lattuada, Saul Daniele Ardillo and Ina Lesnakowski will animate the spaces of Classis - Museo della Città.
With the title Fragolesangue, borrowed from the famous film made in the climate of protest of 1968, on 29 June a performance by Zoe Francia Lamattina, Ida Malfatti and Monica Francia will make its debut in the evocative space of the Artificerie Almagià, comparing the utopias of the past with the ideals and hopes of today in an epic-feminist perspective, with the involvement of the participants in the "Allenamenti" project. Finally, on 13 July, the Gala Les étoiles pour homme, curated by Daniele Cipriani, will host several dance stars at Palazzo De André, including Sergio Bernal, Matteo Miccini, Simone Repele and Sasha Riva.
