The judges, upholding an appeal by his lawyers, noted that there was a lack of evidence that he had been adequately informed of his right to apply for international protection.

The foreigner, who arrived in Italy through the Ventimiglia border crossing in early March, was brought to the facility on 18 April.

Two small boats, carrying a total of 102 migrants, were docked off Lampedusa by patrol boats of the Guardia di Finanza.

A total of 86 Iraqis, Palestinians, Egyptians, Bengalis and Pakistanis and 16 Somalis and Egyptians were brought to Favarolo pier. According to the migrants, the boats sailed from Zuwara in Libya, paying between 2,000 and 6,000 euro each for the crossing. All were taken to the contrada Imbriacola hotspot.
