The Salone del Mobile di Milano has become "Ambassador of Italian design in the world". The nomination, which arrived on the opening day of the event being held at Fiera Milano from 21 to 26 April, is part of the action promoted by the Farnesina to strengthen the tools of economic and cultural diplomacy and support, also through design, the promotion of Sistema Italia on international markets.
"By conferring the title of 'Ambassador of Italian Design in the World', I wanted to recognise the role of the Salone del Mobile in strengthening our country's international projection," said Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. "Over the years, the event has promoted design globally as a distinctive element of Made in Italy and as a factor of sustainable development, consolidating Italia's international reputation as a place of creative, productive and educational excellence in this sector.
This title 'has an important meaning for us, because it goes hand in hand with a vision that recognises design as a central instrument of economic and cultural diplomacy,' stressed Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile, 'as well as a strategic lever for the international projection of the Sistema Paese.
A framework convention was also signed between Maeci and FederlegnoArredo, with the aim of promoting and supporting initiatives to strengthen the international projection of Italia design, with particular reference to the wood-furniture sector. "The signing of this convention represents a strategic step for the entire wood-furniture supply chain, with a view to strengthening the relationship between institutions and the production system," said Claudio Feltrin, president of Federlegnoarredo.
