Milan Design Week: hotel rooms cost up to 4 times more
Maiora Solutions' analysis of over 200 establishments reveals that 2026 is the most expensive edition of the last three years. The average price increases are 600 euro per day, but between 3 and 5 stars it goes up to over 800 euro. 5-star hotels go up to over 1,200 euros per night
One week and prices rise four times. It is not a miracle, but the effect of hotel prices in Milan, before and during Design Week. Which are reaching a new peak this year. According to Maiora Solutions - a company specialising in the development of AI solutions and systems for analysing the prices of products and services on the market - which analysed the cost of a hotel stay in Milan during Design Week (from 21 to 26 April), and then compared the results with the week before and after the Salone del Mobile, it emerged that sleeping in Milan costs on average more than four times more during Design Week than during the adjacent weeks (+265 per cent).
This year saw a peak price increase compared to previous years: Design Week 2026 is the most expensive in the last three years. The survey - conducted through Epona, the artificial intelligence tool dedicated to real estate investments, developed by Maiora Solutions - monitored over 200 hotels, from 1 to 5 stars, and their average prices for a night in a double room.
During Design Week the average price per night in the monitored accommodations reaches 598 euro, compared to a baseline of 173 euro in the periods without events: more than 4 times as much. The price rises as the category increases: un 3-star hotels rise from 156 euro/night to 484 euro during the Show (+211%); un 4 stars from €180 to €638 (+254 per cent); un 5 stars from €325 to €1.287 (+296 per cent). Luxury pays the highest price premium, both in percentage terms and in absolute value, with a delta of almost one thousand euro per night compared to the normal week.
During Design Week 2026, the aggregate average between 3-, 4- and 5-star hotels reaches 803 euro/night, surpassing the 2024 level of 793 euro, after the drop in 2025 when the average was 747 euro. The average increase in 2026 compared to 2025 is +7.5 per cent.
The 4-star segment has the most readable trajectory. After a drop from EUR 669 in 2024 to EUR 560 in 2025, the average price during this year's show has risen again to EUR 638: a clear recovery to 14 per cent higher in 2026 than in 2025.
2026 also marks the three-year peak for living room prices during the Salone del Mobile: this year, average prices during Design Week more than quadrupled, reaching an unprecedented +265 per cent. In 2024 the increase was +242 per cent and in 2025 +181 per cent.
"The data collected this year," said Andrea Torassa, co-founder of Maiora Solutions, "confirm how Design Week is now an unparalleled phenomenon for the Milanese accommodation sector: an event that has reached price peaks never seen in the last three years. We have observed not only a vertiginous increase in average prices, which have quadrupled, but with an average increase of +265% compared to the adjacent weeks, the pressure of demand has pushed rates to unprecedented levels, especially in the 4- and 5-star segment: the gap between prices during the Salone and ordinary prices has widened further, indicating that operators are applying increasingly aggressive pricing dynamics during Design Week".
