Stop also for 2025 to the inflation adjustment of traffic fines provided for in the Highway Code. This is provided for in a paragraph of the latest version of the 'milleproroghe' decree circulated after its approval by the Council of Ministers. The inflation increase would therefore only start in 2026. The paragraph also adds 2025 to the provision, relative to the years 2023 and 2024, for which 'in consideration of the exceptional economic situation, the biennial updating of the administrative pecuniary sanctions is suspended to an extent equal to the entire variation, ascertained by Istat, of the consumer price index for the families of workers and employees'.

Unc: fine increases postponed but not enough, must be cancelled

According to the latest version of the 'decreto milleproroghe', the increase in road fines will be suspended for 2025 and will only start in 2026. "Good, excellent news, but not enough! Our request was granted, but only in part. The increase in fines should not be suspended but cancelled,' says Massimiliano Dona, president of the Unione Nazionale Consumatori. "At the very least, it should be specified that in 2026 only the biennial update for 2024 and 2025 will be triggered, resetting all the previous suspended adjustments to zero and restarting a new count, otherwise we risk finding ourselves in one fell swoop the five-year increase, given that Law 29 December 2022 , no. 197 had already suspended the previous biennium," Dona continues. "It would be a sting. A price increase that, considering the new Foi index of October 2024, would already be 17.7% today. It would mean, for example, that for a parking ban one would go from 42 to 49 euro," concludes Dona.

In stamped text stop refunding fines to no vax

In the version stamped by the Ragioneria dello Stato of the Milleproroghe, the rule on the cancellation of fines for no-vaxes changes. In the new text, 'the sums already paid, for pecuniary sanctions, at the date of entry into force of the present decree shall remain acquired in the State budget' while the sanctioning proceedings 'not yet concluded shall be definitively interrupted, while the pecuniary sanctions already imposed shall be cancelled. For the purpose of the consequent discharge of the pecuniary sanctions already imposed, without any administrative burden for the creditor body, the Revenue Agency-Reception shall transmit electronically to the Ministry of Health the list of cancelled sanctioning measures.
