Mim: decree signed for 114.4 million to tackle seismic risk and deal with emergencies
The funding is earmarked for school building projects and for carrying out urgent and essential works following earthquakes, natural disasters or exceptional events
The Minister for Education and Academic Excellence, Giuseppe Valditara, has signed a decree worth €114.4 million for school building works and for the implementation of urgent and unavoidable measures following seismic events, natural disasters or exceptional circumstances, for the improvement and seismic retrofitting, for works resulting from the collapse of floors and suspended ceilings, for extraordinary maintenance and the safety reinforcement of floors and suspended ceilings, for the removal of asbestos-containing materials and the functional restoration of the areas where such materials have been removed, and for measures to guarantee the right to education.

“These resources are in addition to the more than 12 billion euros – comprising PNRR and national funds – that we have already invested in school buildings, which represent the largest investment ever made in our schools. Ensuring the safety of those who study and work in our schools is a strategic priority in which we will continue to invest,” said the Minister for Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara.
