Automotive, 1.3 billion on the way: Mimit unlocks the Dpcm
Resources to support research, development and renewal of the commercial vehicle fleet. Urso: 'Big push to face Asian competition'
The go-ahead has been given for the 'Automotive' Prime Minister's Decree, which mobilises 1 billion and 343 million euro to support companies in the supply chain for productive investments, research, development and innovation. This was reported in a note issued by the Ministry of Business and the Made in Italy sector. Also envisaged are targeted incentives for sustainable mobility and the renewal of the circulating fleet of commercial vehicles.
Urso: 'Respond better to Asian competition'
Minister Adolfo Urso, in agreement with the MEF and the other concerting ministries, Mase and MIT, said: "A big push for research and innovation in new mobility technologies, and thus for productive investment, to tackle the industrial and energy transition at the decisive moment when carmakers are reviewing their industrial plans to better respond to the challenge of the market and Asian competition. Specific resources for the sector, in addition to those already earmarked for the Transition 5.0 Plan, which has a three-year budget of EUR 9.8 billion for digital innovation and energy efficiency of the industrial system'.
New resources expected in July
"At yesterday's Council of Ministers we also reached an agreement to restore, as early as next July, the resources amounting to 251 million euro that were earmarked, due to budgetary requirements, to cover the decree-law to combat high fuel prices and to support road haulage companies," Minister Urso added. "The new resources, already identified, will therefore be added to what has already been allocated to the sector with this measure, increasing the overall amount. In particular, with this Dpcm, over 70% of the resources will be earmarked for Innovation Agreements, aimed at research, development and innovation projects, Development Contracts and Mini Development Contracts, a new instrument that is more compatible with investments by automotive SMEs.
Urso: 'Support the transition and strengthen Italia's role'
According to Urso, 'the objective is to support the transition, with an additional effort for the benefit of a sector that is facing its toughest challenge, strengthening Italia's role at the heart of the European automotive industry, while we are committed in the EU to leading the 'reform front', with the revision of the CO2 regulation on cars and the Industrial Accelerator Act, which finally introduces the Made in Europe principle'. For this reason, the new plan 'will aim to support the transformation of the supply chain, from components to new mobility systems, up to the most advanced technologies for sustainable, connected, autonomous and safe vehicles'.
