Mind Milano's innovation district expands with the arrival of Sae Scientifica, a leading provider of solutions for the pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology sectors. This was announced by Mind's head of development, Lendlease, who ended up at the centre of rumours about the possible downsizing of its activities in Europe, which could involve the group's two key investments in Italy Mind and Santa Giulia in Milan.
Sae Scientifica is scheduled to arrive in the Mind district in 2025. The group's new headquarters will occupy around 500 square metres within MoLo, the mobility and logistics hub designed by Andrea Nonni, MAD architects, Open Project srl and Progeca srl. The building includes workshops, offices, commercial spaces and a multi-storey car park, and is part of the new West Gate mixed-use area, the gateway to the district for those arriving from Rho. The strategic hub of the area will also house the Energy Centre, a nodal power plant that will manage the site's energy supply. It will have a total height of 28.50 metres and a length of approximately 170 metres and a width of 50 metres: seven floors above ground and a basement, destined for a mix of technical and commercial functions.
This new presence reinforces Mind's image as a district of excellence, as underlined by Lendlease's executive project director Fabrizio Zichichi: "With this new entry, MIND's life science ecosystem is enriched and strengthened with a consolidated and avant-garde reality such as Sae Scientifica. This completes the lease of more than 5,000 sqm of MoLo, intended for laboratories, offices and retail, which will house, among others, the offices of Sae Scientifica and Schindler Informatica Milano. The strategic building is currently under construction in the West Gate area and will be inaugurated in 2025'.
Sae Scientifica's decision to move its headquarters to Mind comes in the year in which the company celebrates its 40th anniversary. "This is an extraordinary milestone," commented Sae Scientifica CEO Francesco Ferrari, "which underlines the experience gained over more than four decades in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnological sectors. Joining an environment so rich in complementary competences represents for a company like Sae Scientifica - a true multi-service platform - a natural step in its path of growth and technological development, confirming the company's marked aptitude for change and innovation".
The new arrival joins 25 other important players in the life sciences and innovation, including the Human Technopole, Irccs Galeazzi Santambrogio, the State University of Milan, the Triulza Foundation, the Milan Polytechnic, Skydeck Europe of the University of Berkeley and the 41 member companies of Federated Innovation, including Astrazeneca, Bio4dreams, Bracco and E.ON.
