Ministry of Education and Ferrero together for sport at school
The agreement aims to promote educational and recreational-motor activities in primary and secondary schools, with the objective of spreading the culture of sport as a lever for training, inclusion and combating school drop-out. The improvement of gyms is also envisaged
Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara and Ferrero president Massimo Micieli signed a memorandum of understanding at MIM to promote educational and recreational-motor activities in primary and secondary schools, with the aim of spreading the culture of sport as a lever for training, inclusion and combating school drop-out.
The initiative
The initiative is part of a broader commitment of the Ministry, which also includes investments for the improvement and safety of school gyms. "Thanks to the Memorandum of Understanding with Ferrero, we strengthen our commitment to promoting sport, through play, as a central tool for the growth and well-being of young people. Playful activities represent an essential educational tool, capable of developing cognitive, relational and emotional skills. Through sport, young people learn to cooperate, to respect rules, to manage emotions, to confront commitment. Moreover, motor activity, especially shared and outdoor activity, is a natural antidote to the risk of isolation and digital addiction,' explains Minister Valditara.
President Micieli
"I would like to thank Minister Valditara for wanting to confirm the shared long-term commitment we have made and for therefore wanting to consolidate a pathway that focuses on the common belief in the importance of physical activity in schools. We believe that movement, experienced through play, represents a fundamental element for the growth of the individual and that Joy of moving can actively support schools and teachers,' says Micieli. The Protocol renews a collaboration that started in 2015 and aims to consolidate an educational approach centred on the physical, cognitive and socio-emotional development of the youngest. The scientifically validated Joy of moving methodology has already been adopted in thousands of Italian schools, involving more than 60,000 classes, more than one million students and over 20,000 teachers.
