It will be a design week of important celebrations for the Molteni Group, Italy's largest family-owned furniture group, which includes the brands Molteni&C (furniture and kitchens), Citterio and UniFor (office) and which by 2025 has reached an aggregate turnover of €600 million, or a consolidated turnover of €562 million (up by about 9% compared to 2024) and an Ebitda up by 12%. All of the group's brands performed well, although the acceleration of the office division is particularly noteworthy. As for the flagship company, Molteni &C, the excellent performance of retail sales (+12.8%) compensated for the slowdown in the contract segment.
Returning to Design Week, the Giussano-based group is celebrating ten years of creative direction by Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen, whose vision has helped define and strengthen the brand's identity.
"After the 30-year collaboration with Luca Meda, from 1968 to 1998, which marked so much of our company's history, a deep relationship, made up of shared values, has been consolidated with Van Duysen as well," explains Giulia Molteni, chief marketing officer of the group. Today the architect coordinates the global image of Molteni, the design of all the shops in the world, as well as following the design of some products, including the new Julian sofa, which we will see on display in the Molteni&C flagship store during the days of the event, but also the Physis kitchen, presented last year with a preview, which is now offered in different finishes.
Palazzo Molteni, Molteni&C's flagship store in Via Manzoni, in the centre of Milan, is also one year on from its official opening. Seven floors designed and fitted out like a collector's home, with the aim of being not only a shop, intended for sales or for meetings with professionals, but also "a cultural hub for the city, where we organise exhibitions and events that go beyond design," adds Giulia Molteni.
A home that, this year, also opens up to the world of bathroom furniture, three collections of which are being presented in these days, with the aim of completing the group's offer, now extended to 360 degrees, from indoor to outdoor furniture, from kitchens to bathrooms, from boiserie to offices. "The bathroom is a sector that we have already explored, within our contract proposal, but never, until now, in a structured way. Now, however, we can guarantee serial, industrial and continuous production in this field as well," says the entrepreneur. Who also recalls the novelties on show for the office sector, in particular with the UniFor brand that presents, in the via Pasubio store, MTM-Made to Measure and Giuditta, two new product families developed in collaboration with the Herzog & de Meuron architecture studio
