Molteni&C presents the outdoor collection: six immersive gardens to reflect on the way of living
At Via Senato 14 in Milan, the new proposal designed by Vincent Van Duysen takes shape together with the installation Responsive Nature by Elisa Ossino Studio
In the heart of Milan, in the spaces of via Senato 14, Molteni&C presents the 2026 outdoor collection, entrusted to the creative direction of Vincent Van Duysen. The setting - and at the same time the interpretative key - is Responsive Nature, a site-specific installation by Elisa Ossino Studio that transforms the exhibition space into an immersive tale of architecture, nature and perception.
The path between botanical worlds
Far from being a simple exhibition, Responsive Nature takes the form of a narrative ecosystem. Six distinct botanical worlds follow one another along the route, each enclosed in its own architectural structure and characterised by a recognisable identity. The visitor is guided through radically different scenarios: from almost fantastic environments to more authentic natural settings, to spaces where human intervention gradually gives way to nature.
The project develops like a sequence of chapters, in which the green changes language, density and meaning. Each "garden" becomes a lens through which to observe the relationship between man, design and the environment. A recurring element along the entire route is a system of wings and screens that filters the gaze and marks the rhythm of the visit.
A reflection on living
Highlights include the Garden of Eden, an evocation of a primordial and luxuriant nature, and the Third Landscape, inspired by the spaces at the margins where vegetation grows wild. We then move on to the Water Garden - where water alters perceptions and reflections - and the Hortus Botanicus, which elevates the concept of cultivation. The route culminates in the Lunar Garden, a rarefied, nocturnal space where light enhances materials and textures.
Linking these worlds are transitional environments accompanied by natural sounds. In the final section, the installation evolves into a digital dimension: a forest generated by fractal algorithms transforms the exit corridor into an immersive, contemporary experience. Responsive Nature is intended to be a reflection on the way we live today, redefining the relationship between built space and the environment. Nature is no longer a mere backdrop, but becomes an active architectural element, capable of dialoguing with design and suggesting new forms. In this balance between the artificial and the organic, Molteni&C proposes a vision of the outdoors as a fluid, sensitive and constantly evolving space.
