It is called Palazzoirreale, debuted in early September with an exhibition dedicated to Patrik Tuttofuoco, and promises to link the destiny of Monferrato to contemporary art. Palazzoirreale is the contemporary art programme supported by the Bosca family that has come to life - literally - in the spaces of via Luigi Bosca 2, in the town of Canelli, the heart of the site recognised as a Unesco heritage site thanks to its historical cellars. "The aim of the project,' explains Pia Bosca, who together with her sister Polina, who is in charge of the entire project, and her brother Gigi, manages the company, 'is to recount, through the eyes of artists, the cultural richness of Canelli, Monferrato and its Underground Cathedrals, a Unesco World Heritage Site, on the tenth anniversary of its nomination. The one dedicated to Tuttofuoco's art is therefore the first chapter of a programme devoted to contemporary art aimed at narrating, through the artists' gaze, the cultural wealth of Monferrato.

The Bosca family's desire to recount in a completely new key the spaces that have long hosted, and in part still host, the company's activities has found its answer in the development of a project by Diana Berti, architect and project manager, and Giorgio Galotti, gallery owner and independent curator. Palazzoirreale is made up of very different buildings that have had different functions over the years and some of which are still used today for the wine production of Bosca Spa, a historic winery with a history of over 190 years, carried on by six generations. Palazzoirreale therefore aims to become a space-time connection point between history, identity, places and the future, with the goal of building a collection over time that will become part of Monferrato's heritage. The project also includes the development of a photographic archive to keep track of the transformation of the spaces and the artists' interventions.

Opening the season at Palazzoirreale is the artist Patrick Tuttofuoco, who presents an important project that unravels from the external spaces of the site to the areas behind the production line, and traces the artist's path from the early 2000s to the present. The exhibition - which can be visited until December - involves some of Tuttofuoco's historical works alongside new neon productions such as Shape shifting (2024), a new luminous work entrusted to the artist and conceived for the belvedere of the building where the company's historical offices once stood.

This year then, also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Unesco recognition of the Canelli and Monferrato wineries, the Art Site Fest, an event dedicated to themes linked to art, the environment and sustainability, in its tenth edition, wanted to dedicate a series of events to Monferrato and Roero, with a series of appointments until 13 October.
