More and more room for Ai in the studio: 34% already use it a lot or enough
According to research by the National Foundation of Accountants, utilisation is set to rise by 71.9 per cent within the next three years
Key points
Technology is advancing, and Italian commercialists are already riding the wave of artificial intelligence in their offices: 34.1% (just over a third) already use it a great deal or a fair amount, with a strongly growth-oriented outlook, given that over the next three years the figure is set to rise to 75.1%. There is therefore a tendency to perceive Ai systems as a great opportunity for the profession, even if there are also those who perceive its less positive side, seeing it as a threat, especially for small firms.
In general, however, it is delineated as a tool mainly of a complementary nature: in essence, it is an aid to improve the functionality of work, but is not perceived as being able to replace the expertise and the tailor-made character of the advice that the accountant is able to offer to the client's specific situation.
These are the salient features that stand out from the research conducted between July and September by the National Foundation of Chartered Accountants (Fnc) and presented at the congress in Genoa. A survey to which around 4,000 professionals responded and which was carried out in cooperation with the University of Bergamo, the Polytechnic University of Marche and the Free Mediterranean University (LUM) 'Giuseppe Degennaro'.
The fields of operation
In pole position are the management of e-bills in electronic form (36.1%), the daily entry in accounting records (23.9%) and budget analysis (18.1%). At the three-year horizon, however, the balance sheet analysis stands out (60%), while only 9% of the sample believes that the Ai will not be used at all in the area of electronic invoice management.
In any case, artificial intelligence is also used in other areas of operation in the study. Those currently with the greatest use of Ai systems are the updating of regulations through web searches (36.6%) followed by the creation of customer communications and the management of social profiles (25.5%) and the drafting of minutes of shareholders' meetings, boards of directors or boards of auditors (22%). Then there is a quarter of respondents who say that Ai systems have no use, or will have no use in the short term, in supporting the management of bankruptcy and/or business crisis procedures (27%) and in the preparation of tax appeals (25%).
