Lasted a little over two months Morgan's return to the perimeter of a major label, Warner Music to be precise. Just enough time to release Rutti, in the sense of the Bluvertigo frontman's latest single. Then on 10 July 2024 Warner Music Italy 'in the light of the contents and messages that have emerged and been reported in the Italian press', reads the record company's official note, 'gives mandate to its lawyers to interrupt the contractual relationship underway with the artist Morgan, leaving the matter to be debated in the right fora'.
In the midst of this is a stalking trial underway at the Court of Lecco that sees the artist from Monza on the stand for persecutory behaviour towards singer-songwriter Angelica Schiatti, with whom he had a relationship. And the clear stance taken by Schiatti's current partner, the patron of the Italian indie group Calcutta, who announced on social media that he would not have any future collaboration with Warner Music if the latter had not punctually pronounced itself on the case.
A case dating back to 2021
.The court case brought to light by Il Fatto Quotidiano dates back to 2021: Marco Castoldi, aka Morgan, has been indicted for allegedly persecuting his ex-girlfriend. In addition to threats against Schiatti and her family, as well as revenge porn episodes, the papers seen by Il Fatto Quotidiano also refer to an attempt to hire two Sicilian criminals with the task of bringing Angelica before the leader of Bluvertigo, while at the same time attacking the victim's partner.
"I hate talking about my private life indeed I hate talking but now I have to," Calcutta posted on Instagram. "Several articles have come out today talking about what my girlfriend has had to endure over the past four years. I assure you that the heinous facts reported are only a small part of what happened and have changed our lives more than you can imagine. The news unfortunately speaks all too often of similar events that end in the worst possible way'.
Calcutta's outburst
.Hence the call to the major: 'Warner Music Italia (which I cannot tag because it is already on the blocked account list) decided to offer a contract to this persecutor despite being aware of the facts,' Calcutta continues. 'That is why it seems right to me to interrupt any possible working relationship I may have with this label. The songs I write will no longer be available for the performers on their roster, and all its employees are no longer welcome at my concerts. It won't be a pleasure to meet them on the street either, honestly, because anyone who behaves like this by remaining silent in my eyes is an accomplice. Look inside yourselves'.
