The line will reduce the journey time between Marrakech and Tangier by two hours, to 2 hours and 40 minutes, while travel time between Rabat and Casablanca's main airport will be reduced to 35 minutes.

French Alstom will supply Oncf with Avelia Horizon intercity and urban trains, with a transport capacity of 640 passengers and a cruising speed of 320 kilometres per hour. covering 87% of the Moroccan population by 2040.

Morocco over 2.5 billion plan for airports

Morocco's Minister of Transport, Abdessamad Kayouh, has announced a 28 billion dirham (around USD 3 billion) airport upgrade consisting mainly of the construction of a new airport in Casablanca, connected to a high-speed railway station.

Thus, according to the minister's explanations, it will be possible to travel between Marrakech and the airport in 50 minutes and between the airport and Tangier in half an hour.

The new Casablanca airport will connect Morocco to several distant destinations requiring more than eight hours of flight time, as part of preparations toincrease Royal air Maroc's fleet from the current 50 aircraft to 100 by 2030.

In 2024, there were more than 34 million passengers at airports, a figure that is set to grow as part of the 'Airports 2030' vision to reach 80 million passengers.

All the cities that will host the World Cup, such as Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech and Agadir, will be affected by plans to expand their airports. In particular, a new terminal is planned for Casablanca's Mohammed V airport, covering an area of 800 hectares, and with a capacity of up to 40 million passengers alone.
