Daniela Ferrari, the mother of Andrea Sempio, was rushed to hospital yesterday. This was announced by Liborio Cataliotti, the lawyer representing her son, who is under investigation as part of the Pavia Public Prosecutor’s Office’s new inquiries into the Garlasco murder, in an interview with Gianluigi Nuzzi during the episode of “Dentro la notizia” on Canale 5. The woman, he added, “was rushed to A&E following a drug overdose”. Her lawyers announced today that Daniela Ferrari had attempted suicide. The woman, according to reports, remains in intensive care. Her condition is stable but it is not yet known when she will be discharged.
The woman is reported to have undergone gastric lavage. The lawyer received the news whilst he was at the Court of Cassation with his colleague Angela Taccia. ‘As the defence team,’ he emphasises, ‘we have urged Andrea to stay close to his mum, reassure her and tell her that we will redouble our efforts to help her put the social media attacks, the letters she receives and the emails behind her, to switch it all off, because she is not under investigation and is not involved. Her only ‘fault’ is that her son is subject to these proceedings, and perhaps this wake-up call tells us that it is time for everyone to tone things down.”
