A mother who embodies the worst flaws of Italianness, a pair of enigmatic fathers, a man who has delegated his memory and identity to the objects he owns, and finally an immersion in the world of graffiti artists: these are the themes of the five books from which the winner of the Campiello prize will be decided next Saturday at the La Fenice theatre in Venice.
After the selection made by the jury of literati, it will be the turn of the popular jury of 300 anonymous readers to decide who will be awarded the "vera da pozzo" among Il fuoco che ti porti dentro,by Antonio Franchini (Marsilio), Alma, by Federica Manzon (Feltrinelli), La casa del Mago, by Emanuele Trevi (Ponte alle Grazie), Locus Desperatus by Michele Mari, (Einaudi), Dilaga ovunque, by Vanni Santoni with (Laterza),.
The ceremony will start at 8.30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Rai 5 (on TV channel 23) and streamed on the Rai Play platform. It will also be possible to follow it via the hashtag #PremioCampiello2024 and on Instagram via the official @premiocampiello account. It will be hosted by Francesca Fialdini and Lodo Guenzi, with the participation of Luca Barbarossa. During the evening, a musical composition by Maestro Franco Mussida created especially for the Campiello Prize will be presented.
During the ceremony the winners of the other prizes awarded by the Fondazione Il Campiello will also be presented, including the winners of the Opera Prima, awarded to Fiammetta Palpati for La casa delle orfane bianche (Laurana Editore) and the Premio Fondazione Il Campiello, the lifetime achievement award given this year to Paolo Rumiz. Angelo Petrosino and Daniela Palumbo, winners of the two categories competing in the third edition of the Campiello Junior Prize, and Emanuela Evangelista, winner of the second edition of the Campiello Natura - Venice Gardens Foundations Prize, will also receive awards. Finally, it will be the occasion to celebrate the winner of the Campiello Giovani that will be announced on Friday 20 September, at 7 pm at the Goldoni Theatre in Venice.
