MPS: Extraordinary board meeting called for tomorrow following the relaunch of Intesa’s OPAS bid
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - An extraordinary meeting of the board of directors of Monte dei Paschi di Siena has been called for tomorrow. This is according to financial sources. The board members will thus be able to take stock of the situation arising from the relaunch of Intesa Sanpaolo’s OPAS and the decision by certain major shareholders of Rocca Salimbeni to announce that they will vote against the CEO’s defensive strategy at the general meeting. Luigi Lovaglio, which includes the public exchange offers (OPs) for Banco BPM and Banca Generali. The board will first be able to express its views on Intesa’s renewed bid, whilst some observers are questioning Lovaglio’s moves, wondering whether the banker will seek to devise new counter-measures to extricate himself from a situation that currently appears to point towards the success of Intesa’s bid.
