MPS: Giani, Giorgetti confirms that the State will not sell its 4.8 per cent stake

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Minister Giorgetti has “confirmed that he will not sell the 4.8 per cent stake” held by the State in Monte dei Paschi di Siena. This was stated by the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, following a meeting with the Minister for the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, on the future of the Siena-based bank. The meeting, Giani continued, served to “jointly assess the fact that the integrity of Monte dei Paschi – which is the fundamental objective we had set as local authorities – is not a local requirement but a matter of national interest”.
