In Vigevano Vannacci effect, his candidate exceeds 14% and the League's candidate does not go to the ballot

The spotlight was all on him. Because he was the only candidate in Lombardy (and in Italia) openly supported by Roberto Vannacci, who decided not to present the symbol of his party, 'Futuro Nazionale' at this round of local elections. And the results of lawyer Furio Suvilla (Vigevano Futura) went beyond expectations

Suvilla collected 14.2% of the vote, placing fourth, behind Rossella Buratti (centre-left) and the two centre-right candidates, Paolo Previde Massara (Forza Italia) and Riccardo Ghia (Lega and Fratelli d'Italia). In Vigevano, the centre-right appeared divided. And the haemorrhaging of votes to the right in favour of the 'futurist' Suvilla had the effect that it was the Forza Italia candidate who came second and won the runoff. Out, therefore, went the Lega and Fdi candidate.

So while at the regional council of Lombardy with Pietro Macconi, arriving from FdI, and Luca Ferrazzi from the Mixed group, the general is also enjoying the exploit in Vigevano: 'I was there ten days ago, the square was full of citizens looking for answers. We,' he said, 'had answers at the elections where we snatched almost 15%, even though the party does not yet exist. Many people finally see the return of politics among the people'.

'A great result. The people of Vigevano understood our message and supported us,' Suvilla said. His 3,476 votes will now be decisive in the runoff between Rossella Buratti (centre-left), who got 34.31%, and Paolo Previde Massara, supported by Forza Italia, with 24.38%. 'What are we going to do? We still have to decide,' Suvilla said for now

After the disappointing results obtained in Vigevano (candidate out of the ballot and 9.3% as a list vote compared to 27% in the September 2020 municipal elections), the League meanwhile runs for cover. The regional secretary Massimiliano Romeo has in fact appointed Gian Marco Centinaio as provincial commissioner of the Pavia province, revoking 'with immediate effect' the powers and representation of the provincial secretary and the provincial executive council. In recent weeks, the candidature with the League of two Islamic exponents, including Hussein Ibrahim, spokesman for the Muslim community in the city, had caused controversy. According to Romeo, 'the political choices made in relation to the composition of the electoral list for the municipality of Vigevano have produced damaging effects on the image of the Movement, causing obvious political damage to the League's action, with repercussions not limited to the local sphere, but extended to the regional and national level, considering that the composition of the electoral list was drawn up with inexperience, superficiality and in total contrast with the political line of the movement'. A 'clear political damage', according to Romeo, who wishes Centinaio 'good luck and best wishes for his new job'.
